This past Saturday the City of Somerville, Groundwork Somerville, and Comcast Cares hosted the annual Spring Cleanup and Community Barbecue.
For the first time, this year all participants were invited to met at the Blessing of the Bay Boat House on Shore Drive, that morning at 9 a.m. for breakfast with local elected officials and coffee that was served before setting out to wards with transportation that was provided from the Boat House to wards for the Cleanup.
Following the Cleanup, a free community BBQ was held at the Boat House for all the participants.
Residents were invited to join Ward Captains and City officials in each of the City’s seven wards to help prepare the city for the spring and summer by planting flowers, weeding open spaces, and otherwise cleaning our community following the long winter months.
