The Somerville Little League opening day ceremonies for the entire league and T-Ball Clinic began this past Saturday April 30th at Conway Field on Somerville Avenue and it’ll run every Saturday until June 11th.

This Saturday the leaque also handed out uniforms(shirt, hat & socks), taking in any last minute registrations and getting to the fun part, which was running the kids through the various baseball skill stations.

The leagues goal is to get the kids comfortable with the fundamentals of the game – throwing, catching, running, and swinging the bat.
Most of the attendees stuck around after to take in the festivities, ceremonial first pitch, and a game played by our older players.

On some Saturdays they’ll break them up into actual games based on shirt/hat color, but the games are very informal since they’re working with kids from 4 – 6 yrs old.
The key is to develop their skills so they are better prepared for the Farm League in a subsequent season.
Players need their own glove. Bats, balls, and helmets are provided.
