The Somerville News Weekly’s Special Person of the Week Danny Cafferty

By Frank Santangelo

Danny Cafferty is a life-long Somerville resident and is a retired Teamster of Local 25.

Danny grew up in Davis Square and later moved to the 10 hills area of Somerville.

Has has two brothers, Michael and Mark Cafferty. Mark has been reported as a missing person since the year 2006 and while Dan copes with the tragedy, he hasn’t given up on faith and he strongly believes that someday he will be reunited with his younger brother.

Danny as a child went to NCC then onto Somerville High School and still to this day keeps the SHS spirit inside of him going strong.
Danny claims to have over 50-75 cousins and relatives within the city and whenever and wherever he travels in the Ville he is sure to bump into two or three of them on any given evening.

He is a member of many local social clubs throughout the city and he also supports many local charities and service organizations by assisting them with their charitable events as a volunteer.
Danny is a very good friend to the community and an advocate against animal cruelty.
As a matter of fact he just adopted a deaf cat.
Danny is a real Somerville person with real genuine Somerville values.

We here at the Somerville News Weekly salute you for everything that you do to make Somerville a better place.
Congratulations!

  1. Danny is my favorite cousin, we grew up together and even traveled to Ireland with our grandfather Anthony Cafferty back in 1975. He is loved by many. he deserves the highest recognition for being an outstanding member of the Somerville community
