Winter is officially here, folks. And with it, a brand new year full of lots of exciting events here at The Armory! Come warm up with us in the cafe, see a show, play with the kiddos, and more. The more time you spend with us, the faster this winter will go by — we promise!
Disco Ball with the Boston Philharmonic Funk Foundation Saturday, January 2, 8pm-10pm in the Hall
Start 2016 with a timewarp back to the heyday of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer and MORE as the Boston Philharmonic Funk Foundation jams the night away. Dancing shoes are not required but strongly recommended. Tickets are $10/advance and $15 at the door. Get your advance tickets here.

  

A Winter Sing for Twelfth Night

Tuesday, January 5, 7:30pm-9pm
Join us for an evening of songs, stories, and celebration! This annual event is full of good cheer and good company — feel free to sing along or to sit back and enjoy. Please RSVP to Anabel Graetz, ladysong5@gmail.com. This event is free!

  

Jeremiah Tall

Thursday, January 14, 7pm-10:30pm in the Cafe
Jeremiah Tall is bringing his one-man show from Bucks County PA to the cafe! A mixture of fiction and nonfiction, tall tales and triumphs. Come witness the magic of a painted suitcase converted into a kick drum. This is one folk-rock show not to be missed. Better still — it’s free! Donations, of course, are much appreciated.
  

Rewind Revelry & Film Social

Saturday, January 16, 6:30pm-10:30pm in the Hall
This time Boston Indie Mafia has teamed up with Good Natured Dog Productions for their inaugural event of 2016. Come check out the wide array of regionally produced cinematic wonders, complete with Q&A, and rub elbows with directors, writers, actors, producers, and more! Tickets are $8 and can be purchased in advance here.


  

Soundproofing Benefit: Music of the Balkans

Saturday, January 29, 8pm-10pm
In 2016, we are moving our Soundproofing Benefit Series into the cafe for a more intimate atmosphere. Kicking things off is Gogofski performing Bulgarian traditional tunes, Serbian folk-pop, Macedonian village, and Bosnian sevdah. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or in advance here. Can’t make it to the show but want to make a donation to help us soundproof the hall? Donations can be made here.

  

Winter Farmers Market

Saturdays through the end of March, 9:30am-2pm in the Hall
Join us for the freshest produce aisle in the city! Every Saturday, you can pick up meats, cheeses, produce, and more — it’s free to attend and any purchases you make support local farms. We call that a win/win. See you Saturday!

The Education Corner
Lots happening for students of all ages at The Armory!
Knucklebones is back this winter to turn the Performance Hall into a playspace for parents with their kiddos ages 8-months to 5-years. Join us Mondays 9:30am-11:30am starting January 11. For details/pricing, click here; to get a registration form, email play@knucklebones.us.
The Youth Arts Arise winter semester, running Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm to 5pm January 12 thru March 23 now has open registration. This FREE after school program for students ages 11 to 19 is geared to fuel their creativity and confidence in the company of their peers.
The January Skillshare session takes place Jan 25 in the Cafe with two great free sessions for adults (topics to be announced), and the Expressive Explorers toddler art program will also start up again in late January / early February (dates and details to be announced). 
The B3 Dance Studio has a wide variety of movement classes for kids and adults alike, including Zumba, pilates, yoga, dance, and even violin.
