Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Urinating in Public/Disorderly Conduct

On 05-13-2015 I was assigned to shift #1(12:00am to 8:00am) as the Patrol Supervisor for the Somerville Police Department. At approximately 12:45am I was travelling westbound on Broadway, in a fully visible and marked Somerville Police patrol vehicle.
As I approached the area of Broadway and Baystate Ave, I observed a male standing on the public sidewalk, directly in front of 761 Broadway. I exited my marked cruiser, in full uniform, and observed Mr. Daniel J. Sullivan urinating against the brick wall that separates the front yard of 761 Broadway and the public sidewalk. I asked Mr. Sullivan what he was doing ? Mr. Sullivan stated, ” what does it look like, taking a piss”. I allowed Mr. Sullivan time to finish and zip his pants. Upon completion, I asked him to place his hands behind his back, to which he complied.

Mr. Sullivan was placed under arrest and transported to the Somerville Police Station for booking and processing. It should be noted that Mr. Sullivan stated he was consuming alcoholic beverages at the Powderhouse Pub, located at 682 Broadway in the City of Somerville. Also, during my brief contact with Mr. Sullivan, I personally observed no less than 25 pedestrians pass by our location.

Respectfully Submitted,

Sergeant Christopher Ward #190
Patrol Supervisor
