Somerville High Girls Track News

The Somerville High Girls Track team finished 2nd at the GBL Championship meet on Saturday February 1st at the Reggie Lewis Center. Malden won the meet with 144 points, followed by SHS with 108, Chelsea 56, Medford 43, Everett 36 and Greater Lawrence Vocational with 14.
Scoring for SHS were;
First place winners were-Catherine Nakato in the 1000m and the Long Jump, Gabrielle Etienne- in the Shot Put, Alice Egar the 2mile and Melissa Sanon in the High Jump.

Second place-Delmi Hernandez 2nd in the Mile and Saragrace Magre placed 2nd in the Long Jump. Our 4×400 relay placed 2nd with Katia Mathews, Jennifer Bermudez, Catherine Nakato and Delmi Hernandez. Also finishing 2nd was our 4x800m relay of Maureen McNabb, Isabella Ferrari, Ileana Perlera and Alice Egar.
Finishing 3rd for the Highlanders was Iesha Guerrier in the Shot Put.
Fourth place finishers were- Saragrace Magre in the 300m, Maureen McNabb in the 2mile and Jackie Eloi in the 55m Hurdles.
Fifth place finishers wereYoudine Felix in the 55m Dash, Jennifer Bermudez in the 1000m, Katia Mathews in the 600m, Brenda Nguyen in the Shot Put and our 4x200m relay of Jocely Pierre-Louis, Youdine Felix, Melissa Sanon and Saragrace Magre.
6th place finishers were Melissa Sanon in the 55m Dash.

The Girls Team finished with a 4-1 record in the League and will move on to the Division 2 state meet to be held at the Reggie Lewis Center on Thursday February 12th starting at 4:30. Qualifying for the Divisional States are Gabrielle Etienne in the Shot Put, Melissa Sanon and Saragrace Magre in the High Jump, Youdine Felix in the Dash and both our 4x200m relay and the 4x400m relay.
