The City of Somerville’s Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Award recognizes an
individual, organization or youth that has exemplified the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King in the community of Somerville over the past year, including promoting human and civil rights, showing courage in standing up for one’s principles, striving for equality, respect, and dignity of all people, striving for economic justice, showing a commitment to non-violence, inspiring others to practice these ideals, has not received this award previously, resides or works Somerville.
