Obituary
Bernadette “Bernie” Molloy passed away surrounded by the love of her nieces on May 4, 2025, she was 80. Born in County Monaghan, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Mary J.
(Horan) and Thomas Molloy. Bernie came to the US with her family as a young woman and settled in Dorchester. She worked at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Dorchester for 30 years until it merged with St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. In later years, she became a resident of the Jeanne Jugan Residence in Somerville where she was lovingly cared for by the Little Sisters of the Poor. A devout Catholic, Bernie provided spiritual comfort through the rosary to fellow residents. She also enjoyed frequent visits from her nieces and their families; as well as her dear sister, the late Patricia G. “Patty” Sammon who served as the activities director and later a fellow resident.
Bernie is survived by her cherished nieces, Michelle Lemmons of Medford and Theresa Sammon and her husband Brett Risser of Arlington and great nieces and nephews; Shayla, Safiya and Jayson Lemmons and Ava and Evan Thomas Risser. She was the dear cousin of Michael McKee, Betty McKee and Jennifer McEntee and beloved friend of the late John Shannon.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 185 Summer Street, Somerville on Friday, May 9th beginning at 12:30PM followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at 1:00PM. Services will conclude with burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
