Obituary

Steven P. Mattson, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away suddenly on January 24, 2024, he was 67. Born in Stoneham, but raised in Somerville; with his three brothers, Steven was the son of the late Aurora (Kazanjian) and Carl E. Mattson, Sr.

He graduated from Somerville High School and retired as a manager for the Stop and Shop Company following many years of service. A lover of all sports, Steven enjoyed sports radio, the sports pages and Sundays watching all the day’s games. Like his father and brothers, Steven also loved golf. Together they enjoyed many trips, tournaments and games over the years, especially the annual guy’s trip to Mrytle Beach. Above all, he most enjoyed time spent with family.

Steven is the beloved husband of over thirty years to Susan (Martinez) Mattson of Nashua, NH and devoted father of Chrissy Mattson of Medford. Cherished grandfather of Miranda Mattson. Loving brother of Jim Mattson and his partner Linda of Wilmington, and the late John Mattson and Carl Mattson, Jr. and his surviving wife Claire of Tewksbury. Dear uncle of Jennifer Brunet and her husband Matty and their daughter Rylee, Deven Pearson, Braylan Santos, Haley Santos and Greyson Gray. He is the son-in-law of Dorothy Martinez and the late Raymond Martinez and brother-in-law of Dorothy Santos and her husband David, Kimberly, Catherine, Kelly, Michelle, Max and Samantha Gray and her husband Owen.

Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 2:00PM – 5:00PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steven’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society at http://www.cancer.org.
