Obituary

Mary J. (Bradley) Dowd, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, November 10. She was 92 years old. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, John J.

Dowd and her son, Daniel J Dowd. Devoted mother to her loving children, Diane M. Dowd of Charlestown, Nancy McCune and her husband David of North Reading and Stephen A. Dowd and his wife Margaret of Somerville. She is also survived by her loving sister Kathleen Fallon of Billerica. She was predeceased by her siblings Theresa and James Bradley and his wife Ann and her dear brother-in-law James Fallon.

Mary leaves behind her devoted grandchildren, Christopher Dowd and his wife Jessica of Billerica, Jennifer Purpura and her husband Anthony and Thomas “Ted” Dowd, along with their mother Debra Dowd all of North Cambridge. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Caitlin Rodrigue and her husband Tyler of Sarasota, Florida and Megan McCune of North Reading. She was a special Nana to her three great grandchildren, Briana and Colton Dowd and Maeve Rodrigue. Mary leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with the many friends she had from Bradley Street and the Somerville VNA Assisted Living.

Mary enjoyed reading, playing bingo and scratching instant tickets along with frequent trips to Foxwoods with her gambling partner and sister Kathleen. She was quite lucky and even won $100,000 on Mass Cash years ago. She was a long time federal employee with U.S.Customs.

Funeral procession from the George Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, Thursday morning at 10:00, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, Charlestown at 11:00. Relatives and friends invited. Calling hours Wednesday, 4:00 – 7:00. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Mary’s Parish, Charlestown, where Mary received all of her sacraments or to the charity of one’s choice
