Northeast Youth Ballet’s 2023-2024 Season
Adventure Awaits
November 4-5, NYB’s 2023 Fall Series, Ballet Olé, will take place at the J. Everett Collins Center for the Performing Arts in Andover, MA. Inspired by the vibrant culture of Spain, this series will feature performances that embody the essence of Spanish dance and music. Ballet Olé will debut two original works by NYB’s resident choreographers, Joseph Jefferies and Jeremy Ruth Howes. Jefferies will be setting an original version of Carmen (by Georges Bizet), and Howes is creating a contemporary ballet, Vivir por Amor, to classical guitar music. Two classical ballet favorites, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa, Don Quixote (Act III pas de deux) composed by Ludwig Minkus, and Paquita, composed by Édouard Deldevez, will dazzle the audiences with their exciting choreography and flair. Be sure to grab your tickets and fans for this sizzling Spanish adventure!
December 8-10, The Nutcracker will bring the traditional holiday classic, back to J. Everett Collins Center for the Performing Arts in Andover, MA. The ballet will feature the talents of more than 100 local dancers from the Northeast School of Ballet. The beautiful choreography and costumes, lavish sets, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score promise to take you through a winter wonderland, to a Palace of the Sweets where Clara and her Prince share an unforgettable adventure.
April 27-28, NYB’s 2024 Spring Series, C’est La Vie, is inspired by a day in France. On the program is the romantic and timeless, Les Sylphides, originally set on Ballets Russes and composed by Frédéric Chopin with choreography by Mikhail Fokine. The exciting pas de deux celebrating the French Revolution, Flames of Paris, composed by Boris Asafiev and choreographed by Vasily Vainonen. Also on the program are new works by NYB’s resident choreographers Joseph Jefferies and Jeremy Ruth Howes. The fun and flirtatious Gaite Parisienne, composed by Jaques Offenbach and newly choreographed by Joseph Jefferies, and a new contemporary ballet by Jeremy Howes inspired by her travels to France. Like the sights and sounds of an evening in Paris, C’est La Vie will highlight the elegance and grace of NYB’s artists.
