Obituary

Carlo M. Petrosillo – Age 83, beloved husband of Ella M. (Rapp) Petrosillo died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 26 at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham.

He was born in Monopoli, Italy, March 9, 1940, a son of the late Girolamo and Maria Rosa (Brescia) Petrosillo and lived in Italy before moving to Utica, NY at the age of 19 and later moved to Somerville. He has resided in Billerica for past 51 years. He completed service in the Massachusetts’s Army National Guard in 1968.

Carlo owned and operated the former Petrosillo Brothers Auto Repair in Somerville along with his brother Domenic prior to his retirement.

Carlo loved spending time with his family. His passions included playing, coaching and watching soccer, making homemade wine and gardening. He enjoyed spending his summers on Swifts Beach, MA and winters in Pompano Beach, FL. Carlo also enjoyed supporting his children’s and grandchildren’s many achievements. He also cherished traveling the world with his wife of 59 years, Ella.

Besides his wife, Carlo is survived by his children, Jerry Petrosillo and his wife Leanne of Methuen, Rose Canario and her husband Paul of Billerica and Steven Petrosillo and his wife Julie of North Andover; his brothers, Giovanni Petrosillo of Medford and Domenico Petrosillo of Billerica; his sisters, Maria Taverna of Hull, Cornelia Tortora of Miramar, FL and Ada Pepe of Italy; his six grandchildren, Robert, Katelyn, Olivia, Kyle, Jacob and Nicholas and his great granddaughter, Eleanor. He was the brother of the late Orazio and Anthony Petrosillo.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, July 30 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 1-4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. His burial will take place at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Epidermolysis Bullosa research online at http://www.ebresearch.org. in honor of Carlo’s great-nephew, Graham Robertello.
