MARY’S OBITUARY

Mary E. (Hussey) Hagerty, a life long Somerville resident, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on May 22, 2023. Born and raised in Somerville, Mary was one of ten children of Helen (Mehigan) and Peter Hussey. The beloved wife of 61 years to Robert W. Hagerty, together they raised their family on Laurel Ave.

In addition to raising her family, Mary worked at the Central Hospital as a cook and then went to work for the Museum of Science in Boston where she retired as a supervisor of the security department. A breast cancer survivor for over 25 years, she will be remembered as a fierce fighter. Even amidst her heath struggles, she always maintained a positive attitude. Mary enjoyed many successful trips to Foxwoods with Robert and loved her scratch tickets and trips to Salisbury Beach. When home she enjoyed Judge Judy and Law & Order, but above all she cherished time spent with her family.
Beloved wife of Robert W. Hagerty. Devoted mother of Judith Halloran and her husband Richard, Robert Hagerty and his wife Mary all of Somerville, Mary Martin and her husband Stephen of Lynn and Thomas Hagerty of Melrose. Cherished Nana of Samantha, Nicholas, Michelle, Kellie, Christa, Ivy, Mackenzie, TJ and the late Bobby. Great-grandmother of Nellie. Caring mother-in-law of Heather Kispert Hagerty of Somerville. Dear sister of Kay Camara, Helen Mahoney, Theresa Rogers and the late Walter, Michael, Jack, Peter, Julia and Nora. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Friday morning, May 26th from 9:00AM-10:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, Somerville at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Interment Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
