The recently installed overhang Caution Sign, with flashing lights, especially bright and prominent at night, is a welcome addition to this highly-traffick-ed crosswalk located at Clarendon Hill Towers/Stop & Shop, Broadway.
The caution signage is helpful, but the additional installation of a traffic light is an absolute necessity. Vehicles will then be actually forced to stop and, hopefully, obey the rules of the road.
Also, a traffic light needs to be calibrated accurately to allow pedestrians actual practical and realistic time to navigate the crosswalk.
Many pedestrians are disabled, use canes, walkers, parents have strollers, baby carriages, toddlers in tow, etc. The addition of a traffic Light is imperative to ensure crossing safety. This crosswalk and Broadway traffic is as busy as the Rt. 16 crosswalks!
Note to City: Please take notice of the words “In Addition”…this request for a traffic light does not mean to remove Caution Signs…lol. To be clear, we need the Caution Signs and a Traffic Light.
