Somerville/Medford Remembering Beverly A. Duffy


Beverly Ann “Bev” (Bergeron) Duffy of Englewood, Fl and Wells, ME, formerly of West Medford, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89. Bev graduated from Medford High School, Class of 1950. Beloved wife of the late John J. Duffy, with whom she shared over 65 years of marriage until his passing in 2020.

Bev was born in Beverly, MA, raised in Medford and was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Genovese) Bergeron. She was predeceased by her sister Jeanne Emmons and brother Robert Bergeron.

Loving mother to her devoted children, Michael and his wife Sheila (McHugh) of Dedham, Kathleen and her husband Robert Gallant of No. Andover, Mark and his wife Cathi (Calogero) of Harwichport, Kelley and her late husband Richard Sweeney of Stoneham, Karen and her husband Frank Hooker of Hudson, NH, Kim and her husband Stephen Pompeo of West Medford and Kristen and her husband Thomas Lafleur of Hudson, NH. Loving Grandmother (Nana) to Caitlin (Duffy) and her husband Daniel Sullivan, Brendan Duffy, Lauren (Gallant) and her husband Stephen Bowles, Julie Gallant, Mark and his wife Shayna Duffy, Patrick Duffy, Erin and her husband Shawn Donahue, Jennifer Sweeney and Joseph Sweeney and his wife Devon, Amanda (Hooker) and her husband Timothy Robichaud, the late Frank J. Hooker, Jr., Andrew Pompeo, Stephanie Pompeo, and Kevin Garrabrant, Great-Grandmother (Nana Bev) to Keira Sullivan, Kylee Sweeney, Aiden, Joe and Natalie Donahue, Timothy (TJ) and Makenzie
Robichaud, Kora and Skylar Sweeney and Harper Bowles. She had a special bond with every one of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family was everything to Bev and nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by those she loved. She enjoyed all family gatherings with her immediate family and extended family members. Her loyal Yorkie, Barney, was always by her side. Bev was a wonderful cook and homemaker, loved entertaining, tap dancing, line dancing, gambling trips, and many cruises with her late husband John. In her mid-60s, Bev took up golf and became an avid golfer with both John and her beloved Myakka Nine Hole Ladies group where she became a 3-time club champion. She loved Friday mornings spent with the Coffee Girls. She will be greatly missed by all.

A Celebration of Beverly’s Life will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, at St. Raphael’s Church, 512 High Street, West Medford, at 11AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, West Medford.
