Multiple teen spaces are open and operating through the Somerville Public Schools, the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Somerville Public Libraries. They include:

Edgerly Education Center – 33 Cross Street
Ages 12 to 18
Open weekdays 2:30 to 8 p.m.

Art Haus – Powderhouse Field House – 850 Broadway
Ages 12 to18
Space focused on serving the LGBTQ+ youth and allies
Theater Programming: Mondays & Fridays, 6 to 8 p.m.
Parks & Rec Programming: Tuesdays, 3 to 5 p.m.

While the Administration operates these temporary spaces, Design, Engineering and Innovation Lab (DEILab) interns are at work to identify suitable spaces and programming for a future dedicated Teen Center.

“As a mother of a teenager myself, I know the importance of creating safe, engaging spaces for teens to relax, seek support, or just get some homework help,” said Mayor Katjana Ballantyne. “Our temporary teen spaces for fall and winter 2022, as well as our teen-internship led search for a permanent teen center, are important steps to learning how to shape a space that serves the diverse needs of teenagers navigating today’s world.”
