SMART Box Pilot Program to Make City Rodents Say, “Rats!”

Somerville recently launched a pilot program that brings the latest in rodent-control technology to the city as part of Mayor Katjana Ballantyne’s 100-Day Agenda and Somerville’s overall commitment to pest mitigation.

The City and its partner, Modern Pest Services, installed 50 SMART Boxes in four neighborhoods around the city These SMART Boxes are non-toxic, do not use poisons, and are securely locked so as to not pose a risk to people, pets (and other animals), or the environment.

The SMART Box pilot will operate in conjunction with more traditional abatement efforts like residential visits, information distribution, and free baiting through the Residential Rodent Control Assistance Program.
