Somerville/Medford Newsweekly Speakup Line: ALL CONCERNED TO OPPOSE PLANNED PARKING REMOVAL ON COLLEGE AVE.FROM THE T STOP TO MORRISON AVE. (ON BOTH SIDES OF COLLEGE AVE. ) TO INSTALL BIKE AND BUS LANES

ACTION ALERT FOR DEC. 1ST CITY OF SOMERVILLE PUBLIC HEARING APPEAL MEETING @ 6PM VIA ZOOM TO ALL CONCERNED TO OPPOSE PLANNED PARKING REMOVAL ON COLLEGE AVE.FROM THE T STOP TO MORRISON AVE. (ON BOTH SIDES OF COLLEGE AVE. ) TO INSTALL BIKE AND BUS LANES

Back in July, the Somerville Traffic Commission voted to accept the recommendation of the City of Somerville’s Transportation Mobility Improvement Dept. to REMOVE parking on College Ave., especially from The Red Line T stop on College Ave (BOTH SIDES!)

up to Morrison Ave.
Thanks to @ 100 residents, property owners, business owners and staff, church members, health care providers, and elder residents of public housing (27 College Ave) a successful appeal to the recently re-created Traffic Board was accomplished. Virtual In person testimony (two minute limit) is allowed, as well as written testimony of any length can be submitted up until 4PM on Dec. 1st. Please see the link below for all the Traffic Board meeting details, or contact myself, Jack Connolly.
As many individuals that can speak, or write a message of the major impacts this parking removal will have on the people living and working on, or nearby, on College Ave., is critical.

Please attempt to testify, or at least email your opinion, thoughts, and concerns on behalf of all affected.

What is so frustrating, besides the poor notice of the original 7/15/21 Traffic Commission meeting to residents, property owners, businesses (and employees), is the deceptive wording of the regulatory proposals, and incomplete and misleading presentation of data, is the fact that the City has commissioned a city wide parking study that commenced back in August of 2021, and is scheduled to be completed by June 2022.

WHY would you vote to remove parking in and around Davis Sq., certainly one of the most visited and economically viable Squares in the City, BEFORE completing this city wide study?

Please see the link below to the Traffic Board meeting on Dec. 1 @ 6pm; You may also call in to the meeting, if you are not able to use the internet to connect; Details are posted in the link.
