Somerville Domestic Violence Month With Marisa Tauro

October is “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” and a time to support Survivors of Domestic Violence. I have worked with Survivors of Domestic Violence over the last 25 years.

I had the opportunity to oversee the daily operations of a Domestic Violence Shelter (nondisclosed) location in the City of Brockton and also The SAFE Plan Program which is located at the DA’s office in Brockton Court House. Working on the front line and hearing these acts of abuse, reassured me there is no discrimination with Domestic Violence. That all genders can be Survivors of Domestic Violence.
Being a Survivor myself, I know firsthand how important it is to feel supported. I am hosting an event on October 10th, to celebrate with Survivors of Domestic Violence and Supporters. You do not have to be a Survivor to attend, come and support those who are. This event will be held at Renee’s Café on 198 Holland Street, Somerville. There will be brunch served from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with Guest Speakers, staff from RESPOND Inc. and Survivors sharing their experiences throughout the event.
