William B Tauro’s Letter to Mayor Joseph Curtatone

August 2, 2021

Mayor Joseph Curtatone
Somerville City Hall
93 Highland Avenue
Somerville, Massachusetts 02143

Dear Mayor Curtatone,

I am writing to you regarding the concerns myself and members of the community have regarding the safeguard procedure for the Absentee Ballots for the 2021 Primary and General Election.

As Mayor, you know how important transparency is especially when it involves elections.
A question of many supporters has been raised as to the credibility of the election process. I put the question forth to the current Administration specifically requesting a detailed answer as to what safeguards have been and will be exercised to ensure protection, and credibility of Absentee ballots of Somerville residents submitting their entitled vote? What is the specific process from a Federal stamp handled mail-in ballot vote after being received? Who specifically handles this vote in ballot? Is there a Police protection of these ballots for protection and prevention of tampering? How are these votes recorded officially? How are these votes protected for the entire process of determination of a valid winner in the outcome of the election of public office? How are they stored? When are these vote in ballots officially counted by election personnel? When is the individual candidate allowed access to the results? Where are they protected once recorded until the conclusion process has been completed and a winner declared publically? Who is responsible should there be a discrepancy in a vote being recorded after it has been made?

I patiently await your response.

Sincerely,
William B Tauro
