Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,
During this pandemic with all the restaurants closed and the rats not eating in dumpsters, the rat festation is doubling due to the escovating with the Somerville Greenline project the rats are scattering elsewhere to eat.
The rats are literally eating the tops of all our plastic trash bins. The rats being so desperate to eat are actually crawling under our car hoods and eating its wiring and rubber hoses to feed.
The neighbors are getting together to see if we could switch to metal trash cans, especially during these times and if the city will or will not pick them up and if they will or will not charge us extra to do so.
Seeing that this is an extreme health and safety emergency, the city should make an exception and let us use metal trash cans.
Over the years I believe we have rat control now as part of our construction projects due to past problems. I could be wrong but I seem to recall that. But who knows, maybe this project is excluded from health issues regarding the taxpayers. But not to worry, our elected officials will be right on it.(NOT!)
