By William Tauro
Two weeks ago we chose William McAllister as special person of the week.
This past week, the Boston Celtics Basketball team choose to do the same to honor William McAllister, who is a tremendous inspiration to many others.
The kindness of this local canteen truck driver was caught on camera last week providing a complementary meal to a homeless person at a busy intersection.
William McAllister who is the owner of the Billy Bear Canteen Truck was caught on film by Rob Wistrom who was walking down the street when he got the photo of the ultimate act of kindness witnessing the canteen truck driver giving a homeless man a free meal as he was stopped at a red light.
William McAllister told us that “I see the homeless guy at the corner of the light every day and I’m always giving him something to get by with, all the canteen guys do it as well and It feels awesome and at the same token, it’s like humbling and I want people to maybe do the same thing especially during this time of year.”
William McAllister can be seen all around Somerville with his canteen truck and even at the Somerville News Weekly every morning at 10:30 AM.
The photo of his act of kindness has since gone viral on Facebook and shared by thousands!
Our hats are off to his true Somerville spirit!
We here at the Somerville News Weekly salute you for everything that you do to make Somerville a better place.
Congratulations!

Normally these people go unnoticed. Class act.
