Dear Billy T and Somerville Speakup Line,
It’s 8:00AM during rush hour on Broadway in Somerville. Where are City Councilor Mark’s “THOUSANDS OF BIKES” while we sit in traffic spewing fumes idling in a traffic jam?Call him out! It’s 8:00AM!
Sincerely,
An Angry Camper Stuck on Broadway
This is assuming that you can get the citizens of Somerville to ACTUALLY COME OUT AND VOTE. The numbers in the past several elections are abysmal to say the least. Folks, I heard this kind of talk before last month’s election. No one is knocking anyone off unless people come out to vote. Remember, Somerville is a woke community.
This is what happens when the city wants to follow a trend without the know how to do it or finding out if it will work here and if so will it have to be modified. This little bit of road at this time in the middle of construction should not be a test ground. Later on when construction is done if there is a problem here then study and resolve it. I do not believe anyone else has studied this except myself. There is much to work out before a plan like this is even implemented. The school Temple Street problems should have been worked out before even thinking about this. I see it as just jumping on the band wagon because other cities have done it. Each road has their own set of unique problems. There will be changes as we go along and this road will change with it. Make the changes as we need them and put some thought into it. There will be new things coming out that will change the way we travel, but they are not here.yet. If this city really wanted to be carbon free they would have worked at doing things that would take away the need to drive so much. Put in stores, even if you have to give them many breaks, like the ones we get into our cars and drive to another city to go to. We need planning and vision, not just throwing something something at it and expecting it to work. This type of implementation has hurt so many and in such a way some will not recover. That;s not how we do things. We would like to bring safety back to Winter Hill for pedestrians, bikers and motorists. In that order. I am not an expert but obviously the city needs one badly.
I can’t wait for Election Day for MARK I WILL VOTE NOT VOTE FOR YOU OR ANYONE ELSE THAT SUPPORTS THIS BIKE BUS LANE. YOU GUYS MADE A MESS OUT OF BROADWAY
Me too. We need a whole new slate of candidates from the Mayor down to stop this crap. They think they know better and dictate terms down to the “Little People” .
Typical politicians not only made the congestion and traffic worse but in the dead of winter when there’s no bicycles on the street we still don’t even have a proper passing lane. This is a safety issue
That just set carbon neutral back a few years.
