Somerville Speakup Line: Replying to a Comment of April 25 Regarding Powderhouse Parking

Dear Billy T and Somerville Speakup Line,

This is a reply to anonymous who commented on April 25 at 2:23 p.m.

To Anonymous who said we should “buy a parking space” – Having lived here my entire life, I have more than paid for a parking space through excise taxes, property taxes and parking permits.  You cannot “buy” a parking space on public property.

As far as going to “live in a place that supports your lifestyle”, Somerville has supported mine for many, many years.  You are the one encroaching on my lifestyle.  You’re an arrogant, 30 something living in a million dollar condo with your partner.  You sit on your balcony or deck, drinking your cocktails and eating your Wegmans take out dinner.  You watch everyone and everything that goes by and then you complain about them, be it the cars, people walking their pets, kids playing or loud music.  You don’t take Green Cab, who employs hard working folks trying to support their families, but you’ll take an Uber instead because you think it’s classy.  You think it’s wonderful when we’re “held hostage” in our homes for your silly road races.  You’ll leave here in 2 or 3 years when you think you’ve found something better.  I, on the other hand, will still be here until the wonderful folks at Doherty’s drive me away in a long, black limousine.

  1. I didn’t even know it was possible to “buy” a space in Somerville?! Anonymous – do tell us where you came up with that “idea”?!
