Information Session and Public Hearing on FY2020 Water and Sewer Rates, April 22
There will be an information session and public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2020 water and sewer rates on Mon., April 22, in the Somerville High School cafeteria, 81 Highland Ave. The information session will start at 6 p.m. and the public hearing will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Anyone who would like to testify is welcome to attend. Written testimony will also be accepted until 6 p.m. on Wed., April 24. Written testimony can be submitted by emailing water@somervillema.gov or by mailing or dropping it off at the water and Sewer Department, 1 Franey Rd., Somerville, MA 02145.

The proposed rates will be submitted to the City Council’s Finance Committee during its Tues., April 9 meeting. That meeting begins at 6 p.m. and will be held in the City Council Chamber at City Hall, 93 Highland Ave. Information about the proposed rates will be posted on http://www.somervillema.gov/water on Wed., April 10.

Interpretation into Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Kreyol is available upon advance request (at least 5 business days advance notice needed) by contacting the SomerViva Office of Immigrant Affairs at somerviva@somervillema.gov or calling 311.

  1. So let me understand something about this city meeting. It’s about the water and sewer rates which ARE going up again. Why have this meeting. It’s utterly useless. We have no say or powers to stop it. No power to lower it. Oh ya by the way when was the last time it went down or stayed the same. NEVER! The MWRA is like a mafia fiefdom (you must pay the Vig or its 2 in the hat). Welcome to Somerville come on in for (our motto) a beer and a beat’n.
