Alderman Mark Niedergang on Zoning

Care about building heights, green and open space, parking, affordable housing, trees, air quality, accessory apartments, density in our neighborhoods?

Zoning affects all of these topics & will shape the city’s built environment. Come to a Public Hearing on the proposed citywide zoning overhaul on Tues., Oct. 30, at 6 PM in the East Somerville Community School auditorium, 50 Cross St. (NOT in City Hall!)

This is the third version of the proposed new Somerville Zoning Ordinance which the Administration and the Board of Aldermen (BOA) have been working on for almost five years now. We are making progress! There is a possibility this version could pass.

This Public Hearing is a joint meeting of the BOA & the Planning Board. Anyone who wants to speak will get two minutes. You can also send comments by email to planning@somervillema.gov.

For more information, to view the video of the powerpoint presentation of the new proposed ordinance go to http://www.somervillezoning.com.
