The Humane Society of the United States will honor Major Patrick Moran with the Massachusetts Environmental Police as well as the Board of Wildlife Violator Compact Administrators, recognizing their work to protect native fish and wildlifeIllegal hunting, trapping, and fishing activity threatens the welfare and conservation of native species that are important to our ecosystems and our economy. On July 18, the work of law enforcement officers who are helping combat poaching will be recognized with a presentation at the Massachusetts State House of two 2018 Humane Law Enforcement Awards from the Humane Society of the United States.

WHAT:
The Humane Society of the United States will present the 2018 Humane Law Enforcement Awards to two officers for their leadership in combating poaching. Major Patrick Moran is a more than 30-year veteran of the Massachusetts Environmental Police. He serves as the Coastal Bureau Chief, responsible for coastal area operations from Gloucester to the Cape and Islands. Major Chris Cloutier has been a warden with Maine’s Inland Fisheries & Wildlife for 23 years and currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Wildlife Violator Compact Administrators. Maj. Cloutier will be accepting the award on behalf of the entire board. The Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact is a nationwide law enforcement network that increases compliance with state wildlife laws among the 48 member states. Massachusetts and Hawaii are the only two non-member states.
