Somerville, MA- Mr. Daniel Curran has been named the Assistant Athletic Director at Somerville High School. He begins his duties as Somerville High School’s first Assistant AD on Monday, August 21 where he will be responsible for assisting with the day to day operations of the athletic program and leading middle school intramurals and interscholastic sport. Athletic Director, Nicole Viele stated, “We are excited to have someone with Daniel’s experience join our staff. He will bring an innovative and creative energy to our programs.”
Mr. Curran comes from Andover High School, where he has served as the Assistant Athletic Director for the past four years. While in Andover, Daniel assisted with all aspects of the athletic program including compliance, game management, web operations, and social media.


Daniel holds a MS from Northeastern University in Sports Leadership and an undergraduate degree from Salem State University where he majored in Sports Management. While earning his degrees, Mr. Curran was a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for the Hamilton Fire Department and held a part time position there until May 2015.


 “I am excited for the opportunity (to work) in Somerville,” stated Curran. “Somerville has a long and proud athletic tradition and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
