Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Deanne FRONDUTO (Larceny)at TJ Max Assembly Row

On May 09, 2017, at approximately 18:40 hours, I, Officer Rivera, while in full uniform and working as Alpha 1, was contacted by Tj Maxx Loss Prevention Detective XXXXX for a shoplifter who exited the store and refused to return the stolen merchandise. Officer Fusco, who was working as Alpha 3, and I responded.

While enroute to Tj Maxx, we were informed by XXXXX that the suspect was walking towards Assembly Row. We were able to locate and stop the suspect, now known to me as Deanne Fronduto, at the intersection of Assembly Row and Artisan Way. I informed Ms. Fronduto of the reason for the stop. Ms. Fronduto stated that she did not steal anything and claimed that all of the merchandise that was inside of her purse belonged to her.

I requested that XXXXX identify all of the stolen merchandise. XXXXX confirmed that all of the merchandise that was located inside of her purse was stolen. XXXXX stated that while conducting floor surveillance, she observed Ms. Fronduto selecting the merchandise and concealing it inside of Ms. Fronduto’s black purse. She also stated that she observed Ms. Fronduto walking past all points of sale, failing to pay for the concealed merchandise, and exited the store. She stated that once she was outside, she identified herself and requested that Ms. Fronduto return the stolen merchandise and return to the store. She then stated that Ms. Fronduto refused to co-operate and fled on foot towards Assembly Row. XXXXX then recovered two dresses, one pair of jean shorts, one bottle of lotion, two gift bags, one card, and three iPad cases from Ms. Fronduto. XXXXX then informed me that the total value of the stolen merchandise is $264.90.

After speaking to XXXXX, I informed Ms. Fronduto that she was under arrest for larceny over $250. Ms. Fronduto was then transported to the station, via 200, that was operated by Officer Marra. Ms. Fronduto was then booked in the usual manner by Lt. DeOliveira.

Pictures of the merchandise and an itemized list will be attached to this report.

Respectfully submitted,

Officer Joseph Rivera #309
