Somerville residents attend event to help shelter dogs find “FURever” homes

The team at Honda Village of Newton, part of Ray Ciccolo’s Village Automotive Group, welcomed about 75 fellow dog lovers to their second dog adoption event on Sunday afternoon in partnership with Last Hope K9 Rescue. Among those who attended were Somerville residents Samantha Bellissimo, who adopted 3-month-old Catahoula pup named Myrtle and Jessica Teng, who is a volunteer at Last Hope K9 Rescue. Last Hope K9 Rescue is an all-breed rescue dedicated to saving abandoned, neglected, and/or abused dogs from high-kill shelters throughout the US; a group of dedicated volunteers, including Teng, attended the event with about a dozen dogs with the goal of finding them a “FURever” home. Leading up to the event, from April 2nd to April 9th, Honda Village also hosted a donation drive to “Fill a CRV” with dog-related items for the foster families. They collected items such as dog bowls, leashes, dog food and dog grooming supplies.

3 month old Catahoula, Myrtle, found his forever home with Samantha Bellissimo, of Somerville.
