On Friday, April, 1, 2016, Detective Sergeant Dan Rego, along with Detectives Fernando Cicerone, Doug Brioso, Guerdy Legros, and I conducted surveillance in the area of 4 Morton Street. At Approximately 1300 hrs, Observations were made of XXXXX, who is Anthony Guarino’s girlfriend, exiting the residence. Shortly after XXXXX exited the house, I along with Detective Cicerone stopped XXXXX around the corner of her residence on Washington Street and advised her of the search warrant to her apartment. A copy of the search warrant was shown to XXXXX. XXXXX was asked for Anthony Guarino whereabouts and she stated that he was in Boston and should be arriving home shortly. At this point XXXXX gave us the keys to her apartment and walked with us to her residence. We then made our way to the third floor apartment door, where we unlocked the door with XXXXX’s keys. Once we opened the door Detectives began to execute the search warrant. During the search warrant, I located a baggie with 4 orange tablets marked 2631, which were later identified as Cyclobenzaprine Hydrochloride, in a living room storage bin. Also in the living room a baggie of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine was found in a brown bag, along with a box of plastic sandwich bags, 1 bag with its corners cut off. along with 2 functioning digital scales. As I was searching the living room with XXXXX present, I picked up a bottle of Polyethylene Glycol Powder. I asked XXXXX what it was used for and she replied, “we use it to cut it”.

Sgt Rego, then advised XXXXX to call Anthony up and advised him that we were at the house and that we had a arrest warrant for him. about a hour later Anthony came home and he was placed under arrest. Mr. Guarino was shortly after then transported to Somerville Police Headquarters via marked unit 200, Officer Pavao, where he was then booked in the usual manner by Lieutenant Rymill. I would note that the criminal activity in violations of the controlled substance laws by Mr. Guarino occurred within three hundred feet of the Michael E. Capuano Early Childhood Center. This educational school is owned and maintained by the City of Somerville servicing the educational needs of grade K-8. Detective Cicerone filed a 51A with the Department of Children and Family Services due to their four children that live with them.

Respectfully submitted,

Detective Jason Costa # 301
