The Farmers Market is back – starting Friday, July 10th and running through Friday, October 30th. The Mobile Farmers Market will be at the Holland Street Center every Friday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. The Somerville Mobile Farmers Market sells fresh, local and reasonably priced produce. Anyone using SNAP or WIC receives a 50% discount. Cash, credit, debt & farmers market coupons accepted.(Flyer sent under separate cover.)

There Is Always Hope – Tuesday, July 7th – 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. at our Holland Street Center. Please join us for a conversation about substance use and support for individuals and families. Foundations of Knowledge Lecture Series – If you haven’t attended one of these lectures you just don’t know what you are missing. The next one is scheduled for August and the title of the lecture is, “When Johnny Comes Marching Home (Again)…Affordable Housing After WWII.” The Foundations of Knowledge Lecture Series is an educational program that brings a series of low-cost, themed lectures to you each month. A nominal fee of $20. will include five, one-hour long lectures in any one subject area. Or, if you prefer to take in a variety of different subjects, each lecture we present costs $5. If you do attend the three (3) lectures in the same subject area you will receive a “Foundations of Knowledge Subject Matter” Certificate. Attend all lectures and receive a “Foundation of Knowledge Humanities Aficionado” Certificate. Series themes include, but not limited to: Art & Art History, The Many Voices of Music and American Literature. Join us for the day as we take a little walk around the castle. It’s a great opportunity to exercise, meet other older adults or just sit back and enjoy the day. Painting as a Tool for Stress Management and Wellness – Mondays, July 27th and October 26th –- at our Holland Street Center. Mind Full or Mindful? – A series of quarterly workshops with Patty Contente, LICSW, that helps use your creative side to manage stress. This workshop is free and space is limited. New York City Weekend Getaway – Saturday & Sunday, November 7th and 8th – $170.- per person / Double and $250.- per person / Single. LGBT Advisory Group – Monday, July 13th – 4:30 P.M. at our Holland Street Center. We are looking for new members and would love to have you as part of our group. This group meets the 2nd Monday of every month excluding City Holidays and snow emergencies.

LGBT Monthly Lunch – Monday, July 13th – 11:30 A.M. at our Holland Street Center. A choice between hot and cold lunch provided by Somerville Cambridge Elder Services. LBT Women Fit-4-Life – Fitness and Nutrition Classes. Classes are Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 6:00 P.M. $10 a month fee – scholarships available & it just might be covered under your insurance. We have available slots and would love to have you. Looking to connect with other men in the community? Join our men’s group where you can connect with old friends and make new ones. All men 55 and over are welcome. Caregiver Support Group – Meets the third Tuesday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Our Social Worker, Natasha Naim, facilitates this group. Are you caring for a parent, relative, spouse or close friend? Feeling isolated or overwhelmed? You are not alone! Come share your experience and practical support. Veterans Group – Meets the third Monday of each month from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Our Social Worker, Suzanne Norton, facilitates this group. Are you a veteran? The Veterans Group is the perfect opportunity to socialize, have solidarity, to reminisce and to meet other veterans. Low Vision Support Group – Meets the second (2nd) Tuesday of each month from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. Our Social Worker, Suzanne Norton, facilitates this group. Do you know someone who has trouble seeing? Gardening Club – Meets the second Monday of each month starting at 9:00 A.M. and running for an hour most times. Our volunteer, Vilma Sullivan, facilitates this group. The Moonlighters – Meets every Monday at 10:30 A.M. and runs September through June. Led by Somerville Youth Arts Coordinator, Jimmy DelPonte, the Moonlighters are an older version of the SunSetters. Brain Games – Meets the first Tuesday of each month starting at 10:00 A.M. This group is facilitated by our volunteers Eileen Jones & Jan Ciganelli. Engaging as a group in brain healthy activities. Senior Housing 101 –Meets the last Tuesday of every month from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. Social Worker, Natasha Naim will be facilitating this group. No books, no tests, no stress – just a great group of older adults from all over the world who help each other to listen, speak and learn English.

We’ll take a gentle 30 minute walk around the community every Monday – meeting in the downstairs lobby of the Holland Street Center. The award winning Fit-4-Life Program is NOW at our Cross Street Center – 165 Broadway – And there are still some open spots!!! A unique combination of exercise and nutritional support opportunity under the direct supervision of a certified exercise trainer and participate in individual and group counseling with a nutritionist. The cost to you is $10.- a month that gives you access to fitness & nutritional Fit-4-Life classes each week. Limited scholarships are available – Need more information?
