Somerville High School 39th Annual Girls State Coaches Meet

Somerville High School hosted the 39th Annual Girls State Coaches Meet at Dilboy Stadium on Saturday May 9th.

The meet featured 103 schools and 1259 athletes from all over Massachusetts. Competing in the meet for SHS were 9th grader Savanna Collins-Silva who ran the 400m in 67.08, 9th grader Jackie Eloi who ran the 100m Hurdles in 17.81 and then the Freshman 100m in 13.93. Freshman Loudes Jean-Louis competed in the Long Jump, jumping 14’3″ and the placed 6th in the Freshman 100m dash earning her a MSTCA medallion. Loudes best time in the 100m was a quick 13.42. Junior Gabrielle Etienne competed in the discus where she placed 13th with a personal best throw of 94’4″ and then placed 2nd in the Shot Put with her personal best this season and the second best in Massachusetts of 39′ 10.75″. Gabrielle’s throw is very close to her best ever throw of 40’0″ which was done at the New England Finals in March. Gabrielle is quickly establishing herself as one of Massachusetts best overall high school throwers.
