Bringing more than 20 years of retail and asset management experience to Somerville’s newest neighborhood, Matt Ehrie began his role as Assembly Row’s VP & General Manger at the end of April.

Federal Realty Investment Trust has announced the hiring of Matt Ehrie as the Vice President and General Manager of Assembly Row in Somerville, MA.

For 15 years Ehrie most recently worked for Westfield Corporation, LLC, one of the world’s leading shopping center companies. He grew within the company from General Manager of Westfield’s concession program at Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C. to his most recent role as Vice-President and General Manager of Westfield Valley Fair in San Jose California. His primary responsibility at Valley Fair was leading the day-to-day operations for one of the most profitable shopping centers on the West Coast. During his tenure with Westfield, Ehrie also directed the center management for the Southeast and Northwest Regions and managed Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ.

“With a neighborhood like Assembly Row that is continuously evolving, our goal was to find a General Manager that can understand the perspectives of each customer, employee, tenant, as well as the surrounding community,” said Don Briggs, President, Federal Realty- Boston. “Matt’s experience from the sales floor to manager to vice president provides him a unique background that is necessary when you’re part of a mixed use development.”

Matt began his professional career with the J.C. Penny Company in the Jacksonville, Florida market and held various Management and Merchandising roles with the Department Store chain.

He then transitioned to Arnold Palmer Golf Management to be the Director of Retail Management for the company’s 40 on-course golf shops. He was responsible for buying and planning all the merchandise, training each store’s employees, and monitoring and controlling the inventory for each of the stores. While employed with Arnold Palmer, Matt also directed Harbor Links Golf Course, a high-end daily fee golf course located in Port Washington New York.

“It’s important to create a sense of community when creating an entirely new neighborhood. From what I have seen so far, Assembly Row has done a spectacular job of building that here in Somerville,” said Matt Ehrie, Vice President and General Manger of Assembly Row. “I am eager to get to know the intricacies and unique community of Somerville and Assembly Row and excited to be part of the sustained success and continued evolution of The Row.”

Ehrie officially began his role as Vice President and General Manger of Assembly Row on April 27, 2015.
