Adult Day Health – Tuesday, April 21st – 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at our Holland Street Center – The 2nd in a 4 part series on “Caregiver Education” – Guest speaker, Denise Thorud from the Windsor House Adult Day Health – workshop will cover an overview of adult day health services as well as suggestions and tips. Computers 101 – Tuesday, April 21st – 10:30 to Noon at our Holland Street Center. Class #3 – Learn the basics you’ll need to get started on your computer and the internet. This free class is being taught by Meghann Ackerman, the City’s Social Media and Community Engagement Specialist. Retirement: Financial Consideration – Wednesday, April 22nd – at our Holland Street Center – Noon to 1:30 P.M. – The Somerville Council on Aging and Living Legacy Financial Group present a free Financial workshop to discuss important key considerations in financial decision making and plans for approaching retirement and into retirement years – Current trends, existing status, making sure your money is in the right place, money allocations & making smart decisions will be discussed. Foodie Tour – Thursday, April 23rd – Leaving our Holland Street Center at 10:45 A.M. with an approximate return time of 3:00 P.M. Join us as we learn more about different foods and cultures during the Union Square Market Tour. For a fee of $13. and without leaving Union Square, we’ll visit Brazil, Korea, India, Nepal, Guatemala and Haiti! Songbirds of the Northeast – Wednesday, April 29th – 10:30 A.M. at our Holland Street Center – 167 Holland Street – Learn how to recognize our songbirds by their songs and calls and create landscapes that attract these birds to our neighborhoods with a 90 minute power point presentation featuring both images and recordings. This event is free and is offered by naturalist and landscaper John Root. This program is supported in part by the Somerville Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. Sometimes taking their skills on the road and this year The Moonlighters will be performing with the Powers School of Music for a Holiday Concert in December.
