is presented for outstanding dedication and effort for the month of February 2015 to Det. Shannon Dottin
Detective Shannon (Shaye) Dottin has been serving the citizens of Somerville, as a police officer, for 20 years. Since 2007, Shaye has been assigned to the position of detective clerk. As the detective clerk, she consistently carries the heaviest caseload –more than double of that of most detectives. These cases are usually those involving …financial/identity fraud that require a specific skill-set and interaction with numerous other agencies, both local and federal. In 2014, Detective Dottin was assigned 170 cases and filed over 120 corresponding NIBRS reports. Shaye manages this caseload while also assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Detective Bureau.
The list of various responsibilities that Shaye juggles is truly impressive. In addition to assisting the Detective Bureau, Shaye is a resource often used by officers assigned to the patrol division. She cares about the people with whom she interacts, and typifies what we strive to accomplish in service to the public.
Shaye is not only an integral part of the Detective Bureau, but also her work ethic, dedication, and initiative; contribute to the successful operations of the Department as a whole. Shaye’s dedication to citizens of Somerville, her fellow officers, and the victims she represents goes truly beyond the call of duty.
