It is election day today, but on Wednesday and Thursday Somerville will get to vote again, for People’s Choice Award at the first annual 5Point Film Festival.
5Point Film Festival is launching a New England event on November 5 + 6 at the Somerville Theatre with two-nights of over 25 inspiring short adventure documentaries. Confirmed special guests include Patagonia ambassador, alpinist and author Kelly Cordes, bicycle enthusiast, author and poet Wade Newsom, and local artists Stebs Schinnerer, Gucci Vuiton (Oliver Mak) and Chris DeLorenzo. A full list of films, schedule for the festival and special guests can be found here: http://5pointfilm.org/event/somerville
While the Flagship event in Colorado awards 6 films with categories ranging from Most Inspiring, to Best of Fest, Somerville will get to vote on their favorite for this community in a People’s Choice award.
“It is our goal to make this Somerville’s event, not Colorado coming to Somerville, and not a Boston event in Somerville. We are here to celebrate Somerville and give this community a special experience while showcasing some of the local products, businesses, and artists.” Said Sarah Wood the Executive Director of 5Point Film.
The two day Festival will kick off in Davis Square Plaza November 5th with a celebration and community party featuring local artists, musicians, athletes, and Sierra Nevada beer. Films start at 7PM each night, and tickets are on sale now through the Somerville Theatre box office and online for $15 each.
