Obituary

Alvin Cadieux, of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 95 years old.

Born and raised in Somerville, Alvin was the beloved son of the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Martell) Cadieux. A dedicated and respected employee of American Airlines, Alvin enjoyed a long and successful career marked by his unwavering work ethic and genuine kindness. He was known for his leadership and was admired by colleagues who always wanted to be a part of his team.

Alvin was a passionate Boston sports fan, with a special love for the Red Sox and the Patriots. In his free time, he found joy in watching old westerns and military films—genres that reflected his appreciation for tradition and courage.

Family was at the heart of Alvin’s life. Time spent with loved ones always brought a smile to his face, whether it was playing cribbage with family and friends, going out for breakfast or a dinner at Jimmy’s Steer House in Arlington he was always willing and ready to go.

Beloved husband of 62 years to the late Teresa F. (Greene) Cadieux who passed away in 2019. Devoted father of Maureen Lorden and her husband Mark of New Hampshire, Nancy DiStasio and her husband Romeo of North Reading, Kevin Cadieux and his wife Susan of Woburn, Michelle Cadieux of Waltham and Sean Cadieux and his wife Laurie of Plymouth. Cherished and loving grandfather of Danielle Sturge and her husband Ryan, Olivia Cadieux, Cole Distasio and his wife Erika, Nathan DiStasio, Mark Lorden, Kyle Lorden, Timothy Cadieux and his wife Alyssa and Christopher Cadieux. Loving great grandfather of Nora Sturge. Dear brother of the lateEleanor Donahue, Rita Tierney, and Fred Cadieux. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be held Tuesday, June 17th from 4:00PM to 7:00 PM in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerviille.
A funeral procession will be held on Wednesday, June 18th from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home at 9:00AM. Followed by funeral mass that will be celebrated in St. Catherine Church, 179 Summer St., Somerville at 10:00AM.

Services will conclude with burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:30PM. Please meet directly at the gate.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to Opportunities for Inclusion Waltham, MA in his memory.

  1. The world is better off. This man had a cruelty the ran through his entire life. No surprise his family is trying to whitewash that legacy
