On Monday, April 28th – Wednesday, April 30th, the Somerville Police Department Crisis Negotiator Team (CNT) and members of the Community Outreach, Help & Recovery (COHR) Unit attended the New England Crisis Negotiators Association Conference (NECNA).

Held every year, NECNA serves the professional development needs of those working in law enforcement, corrections, and mental health across the six New England states. NECNA brings in both law enforcement and behavioral health De-escalation experts from across the country to review high level crisis negotiation scenarios. Participants are given the opportunity to engage directly with Negotiators and individuals in crisis to assess successes and challenges of complex crisis situations.
