Obituary
Vincent J. Mattera passed away on March 19, 2025, he was 73. Born in Somerville and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Rosa (Sullivan) and Vincent Mattera.

The beloved husband of Diane (Saraiva) Mattera, together they celebrated 47 years of marriage. Vincent was the devoted father of Michael Mattera (SFD) and his wife Holly of North Reading and Melinda Breen and her late husband Daniel of Medford. Cherished grandfather of Christian, Bailey and Ambria Breen and Kiera Mattera and a great grandfather of Waylon Breen.

Vincent served honorably in the US Army and later the National Guard, following his military service he began his career with the Somerville Fire Department. Appointed in May of 1985, he served at the Highland Ave Station, Engine 7 for the majority of his career and retired in December 2016. Vincent was proud of his service to the city and above all, devoted to his family.

Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Tuesday, March 25th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. A private burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
