Obituary
Aurora (Altobelli) DeMarco, a lifelong resident of Somerville, passed away on March 20, 2025, she was 100 years young. Born in East Boston she was the cherished daughter of Carolina (Cecia) and Natale Altobelli. Beloved wife of the late Arthur J. DeMarco.

An active and independent woman, Aurora lived in Somerville all her life prior to moving to the Atria Marland Place Assisted Living in Andover for the last three years. She loved fashion and design and always dressed to the nines. In earlier years, she had a long career in retail. Working first at Chandler’s Department Store, R.H. White of Boston, then Popper Shoe as an office manager and would retire from Sears after 30 years. She enjoyed people watching anywhere she went, taking note of everyone’s fashion choices. She could be found daily at the former Meadow Glen Mall where she would meet up with a large group of friends to walk the mall and socialize. Above all, Aurora loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Aurora was the devoted mother of James DeMarco, mother-in-law of the late Shiela P. (Lehane) DeMarco of 52 years, and his current partner Beverly Zambernardi of Hampton, NH. Cherished grandmother of Kristen Callahan and her husband Michael of Billerica and great-grandmother of Rachel Marie Perriello and her partner Maverick Landry of Dunstable, Connor James Perriello and Megan Sheila Perriello of Billerica.

Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House SQ.) Somerville on Wednesday, March 26th from 4PM -7PM.

Relatives and friends invited to attend.

A Funeral Procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Thursday morning, March 27th at 10AM. Followed by a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery at 11AM.
