Obituary
Deborah L. Grant (Van Stry), affectionately known as Debbie, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 76 years old.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on September 11,1948, Debbie was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Doris (Roscoe) Van Stry.
Debbie was a dedicated and hardworking woman. Before her retirement, she worked as a manager at Kmart, where she devoted over 30 years of service. Her coworkers and customers alike will remember her for her kind spirit and strong work ethic.
In her personal life, Debbie was known for her compassionate nature and love of animals. One of her favorite pastimes was walking her dogs each morning and night, taking time to enjoy the peace and serenity of her neighborhood. She was also an exceptional cook, always ready to prepare a meal for friends and family, often making everyone’s favorite dishes with love and care.
Beloved wife of Thomas Grant, Sr. Devoted mother of Thomas Grant, Jr. of Somerville, and the late Karen Grant of Somerville. Cherished grandmother of Christopher Falcone and his wife Asha. Dear sister of Larry Van Stry and his longtime companion Tina Hutchings of Durham, NC, and Holly O’Brien of Tewksbury. She is also lovingly survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 15th in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
A prayer service will be held at 6:30PM.
Interment will be private.
