Obituary

Charles R Conway of Lowell, age 80, formerly of Weston and Somerville, died on 02/25/2024. Beloved husband of 10 years of Chunmei Qin, and previously 38 years of Mary E. Gallagher.

Devoted father of Karen Conway and her wife Stacey of West Suffield, CT, Kerry Conway of Lowell, and Yuting Jiang of Lowell. Brother of Robert and his wife Kathy of Medford, Michael Conway of Boston, Patricia and her husband Daniel Grabowski of West Newbury, Joe and his wife Cheryl of North Carolina, Mary and her husband Neil MacIsaac of Natick, Frank and his wife Patti of Danvers, Paul of North Reading, John and his wife Nadia of Essex, and George Conway of Saugus. He also leaves one grandchild Clare Conway of West Suffield, CT. He is predeceased by his sister Eileen Cooper of Virginia.

He was one of the original staff employees of the United States Environmental Protection Agency for 30 years, and later served as the wastewater operator training coordinator at the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control. He is a graduate of Northeastern University and a Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army and a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Sharpshooter Badge (rifle), the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was an avid hiker, biker, a two-time runner of the Boston Marathon, and an enthusiastic Boston sports fan. He loved his family dearly and was surrounded by loved ones when he passed.

Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House SQ.) Somerville, on Sunday, March 3rd from 2:00PM to 4:00PM.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, March 3rd at 3:30PM.
