Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,
In my opinion Somerville does not care about the most vulnerable of the population. They Mayor and her Chief of Staff, Nikki Spencer have failed me and the City. The City is more proud of protecting their conflict of interest relationship with the Federal Realty (FRIT) than doing what is LEGAL AND RIGHT.
Explain to me why, I am not able to get copies of documents that are FOIA transparent docs. Explain why the city has been refusing to provide documents. What are they hiding? Why do they refuse to provide me accommodations to read and understand city documents? They try to take advantage of the fact that I cannot read or write.
Rented a SOMERVILLE INCLUSIONARY UNIT in Miscela owned by Federal Realty and managed by Greystar. They are liable partnership. The city has a duty to those in the inclusionary units and should enforce regulations and enforce landlord to do as they are supposed to, if not they are the responsible party to ensure my safety. PROPERTY HAS HAD MOLD- KNOWING IT COULD BE FATAL, WITHHELD THE REPORT FOR MONTHS, EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A REQUIREMENT FOR MOVE IN A NON-POSITIVE MOLD TEST. THE CITY AND APARTMENTS HAVE REFUSED TO ENFORCE BUILDING CODE VIOLATIONS SINCE THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN ADA WHEELCHAIR FULLY ACCESSIBLE UNIT, WHICH IT IS NOT. BUT ACCORDING TO CITY THE DOCS WERE SIGNED OFF BY MULTIPLE CITY OFFICIALS AS WALKING THE PROPERTY BEFORE THE PLANS WERE MADE AND STATING IT WAS FULLY ADA. WHY ARE THERE NO FULLY EXECUTED DOCS ON INCLUSIONARY HOUSING AND MISCELA ON THE DEED OR A RECORD OF EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SIGNED BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO BE BUILT!
I AM DISABLED, VULNERABLE ADULT WHO USES A WHEELCHAIR AND CANNOT COMMUNICATE IN ANY ASPECT BUT VERBALLY.
Everyone was aware prior to move in that mold can be FATAL for me in even small amounts. They said they would do a mold test prior to move in. And then held my apartment captive a few days prior by demanding a letter stating they could do after and provide me results immediately. They did the test the day after move in Oct. 2023 and then refused to provide me, the city, the hospital, or anyone the results. Federal Realty and its Agents knowingly withheld these results. KNOWING THAT I COULD NOT BE EXPOSED TO EVEN SMALL AMOUNTS OR COULD BE FATAL. They were aware of the HOSPITALIZATIONS AND ignored all attempts to provide the test results. The unit had water issues and still has water issues and MOLD and they ignored proper REMEDIATION and it had MOLD Prior to move in. It took me 2+ months to get results that were in possession of MISCELA the entire time and their Attorneys. It took a court order. I was hospitalized numerous times in this situation due to this. I WOULD HAVE NEVER MOVED IN KNOWING THIS!!! Yet they let me suffer and deteriorate MALICIOUSLY WITH KNOWLEDGABLE INTENT! I ended up in HOSPITAL AGAIN over this. My body cannot handle exposure. And they are participating in watching me be injured. I will carry these injuries with me when I leave here and these may be my death sentence. The city has watched this happen refused to handle the matter they are in partnership with. I have requested through someone assisting me writing a letter to request that Miscela Federal Realty to move me in another apartment or the hotel they owned. They ignored me. They have Harassed me and ignored to communicate in any manners of urgency via verbal my only communication method. The city has allowed this. PLEASE CALL THEM AND PUT PRESSURE ON THEM TO PUT ME SOMEWHERE SAFE!! I have to use a voucher and they know that I don’t have money and still the CITY ALLOWS THIS BEHAVIOR. Nikki at the Mayors office has known since Dec. 22 and she has ignored me and the situation. Federal Realty knew the whole time and have ignored getting me to safety. The city has allowed them to retaliate against me, discriminate, refuse communication methods and by the city’s failure they have became co-actors in a situation where they are responsible for this if the landlord since they are a partnership. My understanding is the attorney general has been calling and they have ignored their calls too. Nikki and this “leadership” need to be held accountable for this matter. OSCPD (Thomas G.) director of the division (at the time of signatures he was in a different department and just recently moved up) but OSCPD previously signed off on the inclusionary docs he and they have refused responsibility or to be honest about paperwork. The unit was not ADA wheelchair accessible, even though housing, building, zoning and mayor signed off on it stating it was fully. What happened there? ISD told Federal Realty they had to correct in a 14 page letter which Federal Realty did not comply!!! ISD has refused to turn over docs requested after stating they would and cannot get a call back from NICK A. (Director), he has allowed his staff to refuse to accommodate people with disabilities. I was told they were going to take FRIT to court but somehow the landlord appealed.
In my opinion FRIT and City of Somerville does NOT care about the fact they are PURPOSELY, KNOWINGLY PUTTING RESIDENCE ENDANGER OVER THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH FRIT.
Thomas G. leaked docs show that he told coworkers the fact he knowingly knew this was an ADA unit prior to him telling me that he did not. He LIED to a VULNERABLE adult.
In my opinion FRIT has IGNORED and REFUSED TO PUT ME IN SAFE, NON MOLD AND ADA HOUSING!!! While I am dying!!
Nick at the ISD office does not know how to return phone calls but only communicates with non disabled people and FRIT, but refuses to speak to constitutes!!!
BTW the city, SEB AND Miscela Revolution had refused to open up waitlist when ADA units became available to ADA people when there was no ADA needing people on the waitlist. By law this is required, instead they were just filling them with non ADA people and ignoring the requirements. I brought this to light and they said it wasn’t them, now Somerville has admitted they are now trying to change this.
HOW MANY ADA PEOPLE WERE REFUSED WHILE THE CITY DID THIS! I had to get them to fix this for me!! But how many other people were damaged over this! This was POLICY!! And no on paid attention!!
VOTE OUT THE POLITICIANS THAT WOULD LET ME DIE AND ME PAY FOR THEIR FAILURES AND THEIR MALICIOUS CONDUCT!!! AND TO ALLOW FEDERAL REALTY TO HURT THE COMMUNITY!!! THEY CANT RETURN CALLS, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND ARE OK WITH BIGOTED BEHAVIOR FROM FRIT AND THEMSELVES. THEY HAVE IGNORED THE DISABLED PERSON WHICH IS ILLEGAL! Tell your POLITICIANS THAT FED REALTY AND OSCPD need to be ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS!
