Defunding the police has led to higher crime levels around the city over the past two years.
By fully funding the police, more resources can be allocated to the training they need to avoid tragic situations.
It also allows police officers to spend more time in the wards of Somerville that they’re protecting – not only serving citizens when they are in dangerous situations, but also building relationships with them.
Our current administration and city councilors are totally against the police and have all rallied for defunding them which I am totally against!
When we get to know each other, we can come together as a more unified community!
It’s time for change!

Can someone post evidence/crime data to support these unfound claims? Has SPD’s budget shrunk since 2020?
Thank you. Pretty sure this is all b.s.
Billy,
Bike lanes, bollards cross walk signs that all get run over and reduction in parking. All for what? climate change to save the world.
All the streets, sidewalks, hp curb cuts, municipal buildings and schools deteriorating right before our eyes..
All the while gang bangers shoot up the Mystic Housing and no-one is calling this an emergency until one of their own are shot.
Home break ins, thefts, cars vandalized, robberies and assualt’s
all on the rise but the city is moving in the right direction.
The state of city should have made us all feel empowered and the Mayor will resolve it all. Its sad since it speaks for itself a former Councilor for many years. She cannot avoid this upcoming election year without several challengers.
In her midterm speaks on things like rent control, transfer tax and more when development continues with no break for the homeowners to pass onto renters.
its so reckless especially knowing they want to give inept Councilors raises, extend the term of the Mayor and allow kids to vote.
