Somerville/Medford Remembering George F. Mendonca, Jr.

George F. Mendonca, Jr., of Malden and formerly of Somerville, passed away suddenly at work on November 18, 2022, he was 61.

Born and raised in Somerville he was the cherished son of the late Delores (Perry) and George F. Mendonca. For over 30 years he was employed by Stop and Shop and was a longstanding member of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 1445. A hard worker, George also enjoyed playing golf, watching sports and especially loved the Boston Bruins.

George was the devoted father of Danielle Mendonca of Charlestown, Deanna Mendonca of Lynn and Derek Mendonca of Methuen. He is further survived by their mother, Edith (Nye) Manzi of Methuen. Cherished Papa of Isabel, Abigail, Richard, Amelia, Dylan and Neveah. Dear brother of Delores Williams of Prince Edward Island, Canada and Connie Almeida of Somerville.

Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Friday, November 25th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory can be made to the American Diabetes Association at http://www.diabetes.org or to the American Herat Association at http://www.heart.org
