Herbert was such a wonderful person and good friends to so many of us here in and around Somerville and Medford where he will be sadly missed.

Obituary:

VARGAS, Herbert, of Saugus, formerly of Somerville. Passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 17, 2021. Beloved husband of 58 years to Dorothy J. Vargas (Sousa). Loving father of Virginia Delani and her husband Steve of Saugus, and Robert Vargas of Reading. Cherished ‘Papa’ of TJ and Nicholas Chella, and Matthew Vargas. Dear brother of Joseph Vargas and his wife Peggy of NC, Filomena Delgado and her husband Joe of Methuen, Albert Vargas and his wife Rose of Methuen, Jimmy Vargas and his wife Donna of Haverhill, Fernando Vargas and his wife Maria of Somerville, and the late Manuel and Carmen Vargas. Herb is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. He was a longtime employee for the Somerville Housing Authority. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St. (Rt. 60, adjacent to St. Agnes Church) ARLINGTON on Tuesday, December 21st from 4 – 7 PM. A Prayer Service will immediately follow in the Funeral Home at 7PM. His Burial will be Private.
