Somerville Remembering Eugene R. Curtis

Eugene R. Curtis, Jr., 73 years old, a resident of Shirley, MA passed away November 8, 2021. Lovingly remembered by his daughter Julianne, and her husband, Desmond Rushe of Waltham, his son Daniel of Reading, his son Benjamin of Somerville and their mother Joyce of Somerville.

Cherished by his grandchildren Kevin and Shane Rushe.
Eugene was born on January 22, 1948 to the late Eugene Sr. and Mary (Trascapolous) Curtis. Deeply missed by his sisters Maureen and her husband Tom Biggie of Everett, Gail and her husband Mark Witkus of Woburn, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Enlisting in the armed forces at a young age, he served his country proudly at a number of global posts before joining the 1st Calvary Division in Vietnam. He devoted countless hours to veterans causes and was a member of former Somerville Elks Lodge 917 and UVVPE1 Vietnam Veterans Post in Union Square.
Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Monday, Nov. 15th from 4PM-7PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Face masks are required. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 179 Summer Street, Somerville at 10AM. Please meet at church. Burial with military honors will follow at Lincoln Cemetery.
