Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line: Letter to Mr. Salerno

Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,

Hi Billy,
I was pleased to see that you requested the voter records from Mr. Salerno. Over the years I have requested many public records from the city. Since the Clerk’s Office is the “keeper of the records”, you might want to deliver a copy to the letter to the clerks office. Be sure to have them “stamp” the document and ask for a copy of the stamped document. Under Public Records Request law, they have 10 business days to prepare the request.

You may want to ask them how much it will cost and when the documents will be available for pick-up. In addition, you could email your request to John Long, City Clerk directly. Be sure to title the request “Public Records Request”.
If they try to fluff off your request, you a date stamped document and you can then file a formal complaint with Bill Galvin’s office.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions.
A Somerville Resident
