Mr. Paul R. Chochrek, of Somerville, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 following a courageous battle against the complications of exposure to Agent Orange, he was 66.

Born in Cambridge, Paul was one of seven children born to Charles T. and Katherine A. (Sidabras) Chochrek. Proud of his military service, he enlisted in the Air Force and was a military policeman serving in Thailand during the Vietnam War. During his honorable service to our nation, he was exposed to Agent Orange, the powerful herbicide used by U.S. military forces. Following his honorable discharge, he went on to serve as a police officer with the Federal Protective Service and later the Department of Homeland Security. A dedicated officer for 41 years, he received numerous promotions over the years, ultimately serving a Chief of the department and retired as Deputy Chief.
Paul was the beloved husband of Mary B. (Girard) Chochrek, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage, together they were devoted members of St. Benedict Parish. The cherished father of Matthew Chochrek of Woburn and Andrew Chochrek and his wife Alyssa Sloan- Chochrek of Haverhill. He and Mary were looking forward to their first grandchild on the way. Dear brother of Joseph Chochrek, Claire Chochrek , John Chochrek and the late Charlie, Edward and Peter Chochrek.
Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Monday from 4:00PM ~ 7:00PM. Relatives and friends respectively invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Benedict Church, Hathorn Street, Somerville, Tuesday morning at 11:00AM. Face masks and social distancing protocols will be required for all services. Services will conclude with burial and military honors at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s name can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
